All warm and fuzzy…..

November 4, 2015 By Bob McClellan

Yes, we know…  It’s a tad early to be talking about anything “warm and fuzzy”, but trust us.  These pull overs from True Grit will be gone, and soon.  This was THE big seller for fall 2014 throughout the South and on college campuses.  They’re light, but warm.  And they go with anything….  Get yours now, or get one for that special person with the holidays coming up.

Peacocks Unite!

October 1, 2015 By Bob McClellan

Make no mistake, M. S. McClellan is rooted in the traditional, but we also have an affinity for the peacock in all of us.  Therefore, we present Harris Tweed loafers from Res Ipsa based out of Atlanta, Georgia.  Founded by two Georgia lawyers, Res Ipsa is a lifestyle brand designed to help people look better through timely updates to timeless styles.  These loafers are made from the finest fabrics according to precise specifications and by hand.  Nothing is left to chance as Res Ipsa is crafted with the highest quality.
We carry three versions of Res Ipsa loafers, all in Harris Tweed …. Rust Melange Tweed, Guncheck Tweed and Black Watch Tartan Tweed.
What to wear these with you ask…  Well, the rust tweeds would look smashing with denim or Hiltl trousers and a soft coat.  The guncheck tweed begs to be worn with gray flannels of all shades.  And if you’re in the market for a knock out pair of loafers to wear with your tux…the Black Watch tartan is your shoe.  You’ll find other reasons and occasions to wear these comfortable and slightly off beat loafers we’re sure.  As the name of the company says…Res Ipsa Loquitur – “the thing speaks for itself.”
Grab a pair and go forth boldly!

Simple elegance ….

July 15, 2015 By Bob McClellan

There really is something about a white sport shirt. It goes with everything.  It can be dressed up with a blazer or dressed down with denim and chinos.  Like Robin Hood with his quiver of arrows, the white shirt is a must have in your arsenal of dress.  And more than one is all the better.
Meet our new sport shirts from Forrest Lennard.  They are the creation of our old friend, Woody Appleby and his wife, Adria.  And what they have created is the ultimate elegant yet casual white sport shirt.  There are no bells and whistles to a Forrest Lennard shirt, just quality craftsmanship that will be your pleasure to own.
While there are no gimmicks, a great deal of thought has been given to the details …. an eight button front, a split mitered yoke (to follow the natural line of the shoulder) and mother of pearl buttons.  These 100% cotton shirts also feature a “honeycomb” fabric.  It’s an unusual weave that lends itself to comfort and a flattering drape.  The fit is considered “down the middle”….it’s not Euro skin tight, but it’s not Polo Big Shirt either.
We currently carry two models…the “Brandon” button down and the “Whitt” spread collar.  Both are bound to work with whatever mood strikes you.

Give your friend some love……

May 29, 2015 By Bob McClellan

Barbour lifestyle

If you’re like most people, your Barbour is an old and trusted friend.  And because of this, a Barbour takes a beating and never lets you down.  But over time those beatings take a toll and your friend requires some much needed TLC.

That’s where Barbour reproofing and repair comes in.  Once upon a time we had to send your Barbour all the way back to England which made it expensive and time consuming – not anymore.   With a US location in New Hampshire the process is both affordable and rather quick.  And the time is now so you’ll have your friend back in hand come the fall.  It only costs $55, and we generally have your Barbour back in about 3-4 weeks.  We’re happy to mail your Barbour to New Hampshire for any work needed and we’ll call you when it comes back to our store.
Barbour reproof I
Before you get any notions of trying to reproof a Barbour on your own….don’t. It’s a pain and it’s a royal mess.  You’ll be at your wit’s end and not a very agreeable person to be around.  Trust us on this one, send it to Barbour and let a professional do the work.
Barbour reproof III
If your old friend is showing some signs of damage or rips, Barbour also handles that with a varied price structure depending on the repair needed.
